Hi

kristin.eissfeldt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:02:22 GMT):
Hi altogether

dominik.ortelt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:02:46 GMT):
Hello everyone, and nice to meet you. My name is Dominik Ortelt, and I am your chat expert today. Today, my roles include assisting in discovering possible blind spots and later bringing your contributions and thoughts to the breakout sessions and vice versa. The Larnaca conferences thrive on the interconnection of different perspectives. I would be happy to get a good discourse going with the help of your perspectives and thereby achieve a multi-dimensional view on the topics addressed. Enjoy the conversations, and feel free to start the discourse.

dominik.ortelt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:07:15 GMT):
hello and welcome @bluhumi @kourosh.ghaffari , nice to meet you here today

bluhumi (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:08:26 GMT):
Hello :-)

dominik.ortelt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:09:04 GMT):
My very first question to you and after listening to the keynote, what did you miss? What do you think was overlooked?

andreas.schwietzke (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:10:48 GMT):
Perhaps it would be better to ask the question again at the end. :-)

dominik.ortelt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:11:49 GMT):
Well, i talked about the keynote - not the panelist discussion :) I hope you didn't missed it

dominik.ortelt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:12:25 GMT):
- referring to this one: https://youtu.be/ZJ8esZgpaVk

andreas.schwietzke (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:12:57 GMT):
No, all is well!

dominik.ortelt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:14:23 GMT):
Good to hear. I missed for example how the transformation to a new form of educational system and offering can be done more practically as for instance most governments i know off, following a rigid structure for education.

andreas.schwietzke (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:16:21 GMT):
I have thought about that too. In other words, a direct practical implementation.

dominik.ortelt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:16:59 GMT):
What obstacles do you think exist, blocking us from finding a more direct practical implementation?

andreas.schwietzke (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:18:37 GMT):
First the politics, then the inability of those responsible to break new ground and implement new ideas.

friedlinde.rothgaengel (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:19:41 GMT):
Has joined the channel.

kristin.eissfeldt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:20:14 GMT):
Hi Friedlinde, great to have you on board here!

annemarie.bogunski (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:21:29 GMT):
Hello, I greet everyone here.

dominik.ortelt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:21:49 GMT):
Thanks @bluhumi

bluhumi (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:23:07 GMT):
What came to my mind is a new narrative, instead this bringing parents to the factory. How do we want to learn and what do we want to create.

kristin.eissfeldt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:26:37 GMT):
I have been concerned, especially the last few days, about how we are going to hack a system in a society like Germany`s, where hundrets of thousands prefer watching a Bundesliga match (okay, there isn`t one today ;-)) than deal with the pressing problems of our time, e.g. here with us

kristin.eissfeldt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:27:06 GMT):
ooops, did I write code? ;-)

dominik.ortelt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:27:12 GMT):
thank you for sharing Kristin

annemarie.bogunski (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:27:32 GMT):
My question: As a social worker and learning assistant for students with special needs, I wonder what inclusion of the future will look like. There is already a shortage of specialists (special needs teachers) and teaching resources throughout the country.

christian.trutz (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:28:38 GMT):
Students need problems

annemarie.bogunski (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:31:01 GMT):
@christian.trutz - Yes, but too many problems lead to stress and defensiveness and block education.

bluhumi (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:32:16 GMT):
[ ](https://chat.larnaca-conferences.org/channel/Day3_Education?msg=Yenfp6DHP9Go4sje8) Maybe it's more about a direction in which we want to go as a society and what the students think could help us getting there

dominik.ortelt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:36:28 GMT):
Dr Karambu just picks something up, matching your thought @bluhumi about "instead of bringing parents to the factory" - the history that brought us there. My question of course is, as you were talking about a new narrative, how we can come to such narrative and is it important to have such a narrative prior taking action? For instance @andreas.schwietzke brought up that some of our obstacles are in the current politics, but do we need to get rid of obstacles within politics first to make a transition start? And then, my question is, do we know what our students really want?

bluhumi (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:40:35 GMT):
We as humans are a koevolutionary species. So maybe everyone needs to learn to walk, but we also build on generations of knowledge and conditioning resulting in culture. I guess to change it would help to create a future state from which we reimagine, how will we've gotten there.

dominik.ortelt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:42:30 GMT):
Thanks @bluhumi

dominik.ortelt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:43:14 GMT):
What does the rest in here think about that this proposal?

annemarie.bogunski (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:43:29 GMT):
If you want to know what students want, you should visit schools and talk to the students. From my time as an employee at a school, I know that the majority of students want practical lessons that are directly related to the challenges of our time. Pure classroom teaching is increasingly rejected because it is too unproductive and boring.

dominik.ortelt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:44:33 GMT):
thank you so much @annemarie.bogunski and i totally agree that going genba as I call it is a crucial part to get facts first hand :-)

bluhumi (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:46:51 GMT):
[ ](https://chat.larnaca-conferences.org/channel/Day3_Education?msg=577dEXNXCmxiyKp2p) Yes, but someone has to think about the challenges presented. Maybe making cars electric is not the relevant challenge we need to solve. Optimizing the wrong thing, still leads in the wrong direction, only "faster".

wolfgang.stief (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:47:18 GMT):
(IT) companies hire product managers as a connection role between what customers want and need, and what development can/will deliver in future products. Why not implement such a product manager in school environments?

annemarie.bogunski (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:48:28 GMT):
@dominik.ortelt - It is also the case that over the past 15 years, increasingly hands-on classes, such as crafts and creative arts, have been removed from the general education program in favor of core subjects, such as math, German, or languages. However, this leaves the educational mission far behind comprehensive skills education.

annemarie.bogunski (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:49:53 GMT):
@wolfgang.stief - great message!!!!

andreas.schwietzke (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:50:56 GMT):
I was a lecturer at a university and my experience tells me that it is absolutely dependent on the teaching staff, how the seminars take place, whether the student has the motivation to get involved. The frontal teaching only works in the comparison of facts, but in the seminar one should also take into account the needs of the student and stimulate discussions as well as support them.

annemarie.bogunski (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:51:38 GMT):
@wolfgang.stief - Why shouldn't retired managers be allowed to act as teachers - not full-time, but in selected subject areas?

dominik.ortelt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:52:41 GMT):
One reason I propose UBI - It would make more of that possible and also provide more people the chance to go back into a learning environment

wolfgang.stief (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:53:13 GMT):
[ ](https://chat.larnaca-conferences.org/channel/Day3_Education?msg=qfnnnDiyuY5npjywE) This certainly would bring at least some understanding in how "the business world" works :-) Being an engineer, I learned this the hard way "on the job" over many, many years because there was no subject in my university curriculum.

kristin.eissfeldt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:53:23 GMT):
@andreas.schwietzke exactly, that`s what my teenage-sons tell me every year - there are great teachers who are able to reach children, even teenagers, and those you just tell stuff without any connection to humans

annemarie.bogunski (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:53:59 GMT):
@dominik.ortelt - What is UBI?

dominik.ortelt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:54:09 GMT):
Universal Basic Income

annemarie.bogunski (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:55:34 GMT):
@dominik.ortelt - ahhh - thanks.

dominik.ortelt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:55:40 GMT):
It would help people to get off the job when more learning and new learning is needed It would make earlier retirement possible etc

annemarie.bogunski (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 15:56:41 GMT):
Yes!

bluhumi (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 16:06:33 GMT):
Completly resonating with what Gitta just said. What adults do we want to have. How to we want to live, and what structure and competences support this.

dominik.ortelt (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 16:10:26 GMT):
we will continue in a few minutes. Thank you so far for all your ideas and sharings

matthias.steines (Sat, 13 Nov 2021 16:11:50 GMT):
**5 Minute break** We are pleased to invite the people from the chat also to the *zoom* breakout session, if you feel more like joining other attendees and the panelists in a video call Links can be found on this page ->

Breakout Session Chat: Boris Gloger & Gitta Peyn

17:29:01 Von Sabine BornHofmann an Alle:
Boris, can you pleas tell more About your ideas of Scrum4schools?
17:32:54 Von Sabine BornHofmann an Alle:
go to lacarna conferences!
17:33:36 Von Andreas Schwietzke an Alle:
In my experience, the motivation to learn always depends on one's own needs. It would be necessary to provide an open structure that makes it possible to recognise one's own needs and to promote them accordingly. My learning has almost always been self-taught, or rather I have learned best when it has been self-taught.
17:35:25 Von Sabine BornHofmann an Alle:
so the challenge is: to know how to get consiousness of what I want to know, to be, to live....
17:37:20 Von Andreas Schwietzke an Alle:
My English is so bad, I don't want to put anyone through that. :-D

17:46:02 Von Andreas Schwietzke an Alle:
AND ART! PLEASE!
17:48:14 Von Andreas Schwietzke an Alle:
Boris, exactly!!!
17:50:05 Von René an Alle:
How can Scrum4Schools concept protect Kids from fake news, if they self organizing there learing?
17:51:42 Von Iulian Bondari an Alle:
We want to fix something using the same mentality used to create that problem. We do not consider replacing the society ... Suppose we have found a solution, namely to "create a new society" so we can fix social problems... Q: What is a systems approach to designing society?
17:58:15 Von Christian Trutz an Alle:
Should we accept more chaos and random in schools?
17:58:26 Von Boris Gloger an Alle:
yes
17:58:29 Von Claudia Saar an Alle:
Yes!
